Church (1907- ) was a Michigan artist and photographer. He worked for over 30 years as the Director of Cultural Activities for the Extension Service at the University of Michigan. Four governors appointed him to serve on the Michigan Council for the Arts, which was begun in 1966 to stimulate and encourage the performing and creative arts within the state. Outside of museum holdings, no comprehensive survey and inventory of campus artwork had been attempted since 1937. With support from the Michigan Commission on Art in Public Places, 1,076 items were inventoried during 1988-1990.
